Lightweighting of high-thickness PankaDisc
We are pleased to inform that through recent product development, we will be able to reduce
the substance of PankaDisc in the thickness range from 1.0 mm to 1.55 mm.
All other specifications will remain unchanged.
The outcome is a further enhancement of the already significant yield, contributing to even greater
lightweighting benefits.
The revised substances will be the following:
• PankaDisc 420 gsm (previously 430 gsm)
• PankaDisc 470 gsm (previously 480 gsm)
• PankaDisc 560 gsm (previously 580 gsm)
• PankaDisc 610 gsm (previously 630 gsm)
The specifications of the lower substances (390 gsm and below) remain unchanged.
These revised specifications come into force from the production in mid March.

Panka 2020 hanke toteutunut / Panka 2020 project completed
Pankaboard on saanut päätökseen Panka 2020 -investointihankkeen, johon Etelä-Savon elinkeino-, liikenne- ja ympäristökeskus myönsi 10.4.2018 kehittämisavustusta. Panka 2020 -hankkeen tavoitteina oli vahvistaa merkittävästi Pankaboardin kilpailukykyä erikoiskartongin valmistajana ja lisätä digitalisaatiota. Hankkeessa investoitiin tehtaan tuotantokykyyn, valmistaa korkean jalostusarvon erikoiskartonkeja valittuihin loppukäyttöihin ja haettiin yhtiölle kestävää liikevaihdon kasvua sekä kannattavuutta. Pankaboard vahvisti hyvinvointia Lieksassa, Pohjois-Karjalassa, lisääntyvän alihankinnan ja uusien työpaikkojen muodossa. Investoinnit toteutettiin ympäristöarvoja vaalien.
On April 10, 2018, The Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres) granted a development grant for the investments of Panka 2020 project. Pankaboard has completed Panka 2020 project. The goal of the Panka 2020 project was to significantly strengthen Pankaboard’s competitiveness as a special cardboard manufacturer and to increase digitization also. In accordance to the strategy, the Panka 2020 project invested in the production capacity to manufacture special cardboards of high value for selected end uses. The project aimed to increase turnover and profitability. The company strengthened well-being in city of Lieksa, North Karelia, in the form of increasing subcontracting and new jobs. Investments were made with environmental values.

Pankaboard introducing new kraftboards
After extensive development, Pankaboard is proud to officially launch the latest addition to the already unique product portfolio. With the introduction of PankaKraft, the company can now offer high quality, unbleached virgin fiber cartonboards available in high thicknesses, both coated and uncoated.
The new product, PankaKraft Polar, is a coated kraftboard with thickness up to 950 microns. PankaKraft Amber features an uncoated structure with unbleached fibers on both sides reaching 930 microns in thickness.
The product range is designed for various packaging and tray applications for fresh and chilled products. Both products are hard sized to perform in cold conditions.

Folded food trays and flat skin pads – Launch of new PankaLux Plus
With a wide range of substances and thicknesses reaching up to 1mm, we can offer cartonboard alternatives for your folded tray applications and skin pad solutions.
PankaLux Plus has been developed specifically for this end use and is hard sized by default. The strength properties have been optimized for the demanding converting steps and to withstand the cool conditions in the whole supply chain.
Naturally the cartonboard is made of 100% fresh fibers to guarantee the highest purity and product safety. The fibers used are coming from sustainable and traceable fiber sources, which is the case for all products from Pankaboard. PankaLux Plus can be supplied on request as Zero-C version with fossil emissions compensated.
